China

I’m still thinking about the awesome Olympic show China put on but to be honest I don’t know what to make of it. How do I square my understanding of the role China wants/is playing on the international stage with the way I know they treat the weakest of their society or the way they brutally treat anyone who dares speak out or the obvious censorship? My understanding of China isn’t super deep or well polished but I know a little. So I was thrilled to read Tom Friedman’s column today. Always happy to have his thoughts to ponder.

As snapshots go, the one China presented through the Olympics was enormously powerful — and it’s one that Americans need to reflect upon this election season.
